STAGE 2 WATER CONSERVATION

Culleoka Water Supply Corporation Watering

For the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD), including member city Princeton, the current mandatory conservation stage is Stage 2 — in effect year-round since April 2024. This means:

Outdoor irrigation rules (Stage 2, 2026)

· Frequency: No more than 2 days per week for lawn/sprinkler watering.

· Time limits: Prohibited from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to reduce evaporation and wind drift.

· Culleoka Water Supply schedule: Even-numbered addresses water on Mondays and Thursdays; odd-numbered addresses on Tuesdays and Fridays

· Winter (Nov 1 – Mar 31): Limit to 1 day per week; often less is adequate

· Spring/Summer (Apr 1 – Oct 31): Follow the 2-day-per-week schedule above.

Watering best practices

· Water before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. to minimize losses.

· Use short cycles and wait 1–2 hours between cycles to let water soak in.

· Check sprinkler heads to ensure they water grass, not driveways or sidewalks.

· Raise mower blade height in summer and avoid cutting more than 1/3 of the blade at once.

· Repair leaks promptly — one drop per second can waste over 3,000 gallons/year.

· Plant native or adapted species to reduce water needs.

· Use drip irrigation or soaker hoses for new plantings or foundations.
